Sony Collaborates With RADVISION to Provide Enhanced Market-leading Video Conferencing Technology
Customers enjoy a complete, easy-to-use and scalable solution for a new generation of HD communications
Hong Kong (November 01, 2008) –
Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited today announced a strategic reselling agreement with the acclaimed technology company RADVISION. Under the terms of the agreement, RADVISION will provide the infrastructure for Sony’s full range of video conferencing solutions, including MCUs, Gateways and software. This landmark new collaboration will apply to Sony’s business markets throughout the Asia Pacific region, with the exception of China, Japan and Korea.
“The agreement aims to address the growing demand of end-to-end, quality HD video communication in the market,” remarked Mr Yoshikazu Hirano, General Manager, Business and Professional Products Asia Pacific Company, Sony Electronics of Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. “Bringing Sony and RADVISION together, the agreement enables our customers to enjoy a higher quality communication, as well as better use of resources and increased cost-efficiency.”
Strategic benefits for today’s business needs
Designed to offer a complete, easy-to-use and highly scalable solution, RADVISION’s advanced media processing capabilities together with Sony’s full range of endpoint videoconferencing systems, allow mixed conferences that combine high definition (HD) video systems, standard definition endpoints and desktop video, while still preserving native resolution and with no adverse affect on capabilities and functions.
By optimizing the capacity of Sony videoconferencing systems, RADVISION’s SCOPIA? technology provides customers a better return on their investment. Intelligent optimization of port capacity further ensures a reduced cost per port, because the number of ports available for standard definition and desktop systems increases whenever HD is not fully utilized.
“Through this agreement, customers will be able to effortlessly extend their conferencing abilities from the conference room to other locations,” said Mr Eitan Livne, General Manager of RADVISION Asia Pacific. “By being equipped to take full advantage of HD communications, customers will be able to create a business environment that favors closer collaboration and faster decision-making.”
RADVISION SCOPIA – Redefining visual communications
RADVISION’s innovative technology is designed to enable video connectivity at all levels of an organization. In its new agreement with Sony, this best-of-breed technology will empower Sony systems to offer more flexibility and scalability than ever before, with assured quality levels that are essential for maximizing the HD experience.
Highly scalable from 12 ports to hundreds, SCOPIA naturally protects customers’ technology investment as their video conferencing application grows. It also offers unparalleled Unified Communications Integration with the market leaders, including seamless integration with the Enterprise Workspace via Microsoft Outlook, IBM Lotus Notes, or browser control.
PCS-XG80 – the ideal HD conferencing tool from Sony
With the launch of the PCS-XG80 IPELA HD Visual Communication System, Sony sets a new standard for dynamic business communications. Much more than life-like images, the PCS-XG80 delivers approximately four times more detail than standard-definition images, so users can see details that would be invisible on a standard system. Clear, natural-sounding stereo also enables ‘real communications’, as if all parties were talking in the same room.
The joint solution allows the audio-visual breakthrough to be extended to multi-party conferencing, with browser plug-in and automatic firewall traversal for hassle-free desktop conferencing. The end result is a video conferencing experience that redefines remote communications and empowers businesses with the technology they need to collaborate, innovate and grow.
To bring enhanced benefits to the widest possible range of customers, RADVISION infrastructure is also applied to the full range of Sony’s video conferencing solutions, from the HD video of its flagship model PCS-XG80 and PCS-HG90, high performance models PCS-G70, PCS-G50, all-in-one business personal model PCS-TL33 to entry model PCS-1.
Combined with the sophisticated infrastructure from RADVISION, the Sony videoconferencing systems will take the visual communication experience to a new level, not only for conferences, but also for one-to-one meetings, remote interviewing, training, and many other applications in healthcare, education, government, justice and businesses of all sizes.
