Quanta Selects RADVISION’s IMS Client for Next Generation Mobile Handsets
Quanta, one of the largest ODM companies in the world, will support IMS Video Share capabilities powered by RADVISION in its next generation handsets
Tel-Aviv (March 04, 2008) –
RADVISION (NASDAQ:RVSN), a leading provider of products and technologies for unified visual communications over IP and 3G networks, announced today that Quanta Computer Inc.(RIC:2382.TW) is implementing RADVISION’s IMS Video Share Application to drive one of the first IMS services for deployment by operators on next generation Windows Mobile 6 handset devices. Quanta Group is one of the world’s leading developers of computers, storage devices and consumer electronics.
“Quanta’s selection underscores the advantages of RADVISION’s comprehensive approach,” said Tsahi Levent-Levi, Product Manager for RADVISION’s Technology Business Unit. “For their IMS client needs, the Quanta group will be using RADVISION’s integrated solutions to deliver a more robust handset while expediting time to market. We are very proud to partner with such a significant player in the market and be a part of this project.”
Video Share is one of the first IMS services to be launched by mobile operators. It allows people to do a regular audio call and then add a unidirectional video over IP. This gives a “see what I see” user experience. Quanta will be deploying the IMS Video Share Application as the first IMS service on their Windows Mobile 6 smartphones. The RADVISION IMS Video Share Application is uniquely designed to run in Windows Mobile environments – equipped with an integrated user interface that hooks seamlessly into Windows Mobile Phone Canvas technology. This seamless integration provides Quanta with the ability to bring their product to market faster than ever before.
“We have worked with RADVISION in the past on our mobile handsets and we are sure this new technology will fit well into our handset architecture,” said Michael Wu, Assistant Vice President at Wireless Business Unit of Quanta Computer. “The unique integration with Windows Mobile user interface is fully provided by RADVISION – this greatly reduced our development effort when implementing this service”
