* Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration for the real-time organization, announces today that its Fire and Ice project, was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Stockholm Challenge Award, a bi-annual international competition that recognizes the world’s best ICT (information and communication technology) for Development projects.
* The award targets “excellent examples of information and communications technologies that show convincing benefits to people and communities, wide impacts, and proof of future sustainability.” The project was selected from hundreds of applications worldwide and will compete in the Education category as the only Canadian finalist and one of only two North American finalists.
* Finalists from more than 50 countries will attend the gala award event, taking place on May 22, 2008 in the world-famous Blue Hall in Stockholm City Hall, the same venue as the annual Nobel Prize Banquet.
* Fire and Ice develops the leaders of tomorrow by connecting schools in North America and Europe with schools in developing nations (particularly those in rural and remote areas) and engaging them in live online collaborative projects that address critical social challenges (such as climate change and poverty reduction) using the most advanced, yet economical and accessible ICT solutions.
