Remote Access and Online Meeting Technology Provide Relief to Multitasking Moms and Dads

A recent study conducted by the polling company™, inc./WomanTrend revealed that Web Commuting parents who work remotely at least a few hours a week using Web-based technology were more likely than non-parents to see the appeal of these services.

The study, “Web Commuting & The American Workforce,” examined the extent to which technologies allow professionals the freedom and efficiency to accomplish tasks away from the office. “When asked to choose from a list of six items what would be the best thing about working remotely, 41% of non-remote workers said spending more time with family,” said Kellyanne Conway, president and CEO at the polling company, inc./WomanTrend. “This was even higher among working parents, 44% of whom lauded this benefit.”

Courtney Chojnacki, online business and research director with Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., turned to GoToMeeting, an online meeting service, when she needed to balance the demands of work and family life. “With three teenagers, and my husband deployed for the military in, I would have had to relocate or be on the road 100 percent of the time if it wasn’t for GoToMeeting,” said Chojnacki. “Instead, I can conduct virtual meetings from my desktop computer to communicate with staff and still be at home at night with my family.”
