iLinc Goes Green

Web conferencing eliminates travel by plane, train, and automobile, and saves money, fuel, and cuts down on greenhouse emissions. Now iLinc has a patent to measure just how many dollars are saved and emissions averted.

Last month, iLinc was given a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for their iLinc Green Meter; the patent includes the application, algorithms, and processes embedded within the core iLinc technology that tracks, as mentioned before, dollars saved and emissions avoided in use of iLinc web conferencing.

Cash crunches have recently led more companies to web conferencing solutions, but the recession has shown signs of subsiding and the need for green technology and practices has not, so web conferencing will surely remain a popular means of meeting. iLinc’s newly-patented tool gives tangible evidence of environmental and economic savings accrued, while bolstering efficiency environmentally and within the workspace.

iLinc’s Green Meter was created by their VP of Product Development, Ethan Abrams, and Marie Prentice, a software developer at he company. While the product doesn’t necessarily speak to the quality of iLinc’s services, it does say volumes about the company’s green awareness, and perhaps forecasts a demand for gauging financial and ecological savings.
